The SOEKS Ecotester, 2 in 1 device, is used for instant measurement of nitrate content in fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, and baby foods. In addition to measuring nitrates in food products, it will also detect contamination by radioactive elements in all foodstuffs, construction materials, as well as your local environment.

Checking the content and the amount of nitrates in the analyzed product is achieved by piercing the product with the probe located at the base of the device.

Unlike outdated devices that have a needle to itemize food products in combined groups, the SOEKS EcoTester is pre-programmed with the MPC (Maximum Permissible Concentration) for each specific product in accordance with SanPin 2.3.2.1078-01. Simply switch the device on, choose a product from the list, and instantly view the results. The exact amount of nitrate content in the analyzed product will be displayed, in addition to recommendations on suitability for consumption:

Normal Concentration of Nitrates - Safe

Insignificant Excess of Standard - Reasonably safe

Significant Excess of Standard - Best to avoid

Dangerous Concentration of Nitrates - DO NOT EAT

The dosimeter will estimate the background radiation in respect of ion radiation intensity (gamma radiation and beta-particle stream) as well as X-ray radiation levels.

During measurement, the screen displays the current value of the level of background radiation in mSv/hr (µSv/h) or mR/hr (µR/h). Each analysis will be accompanied by one of the following messages:

GREEN - Normal Background Radiation ( safe )

AMBER - High Background Radiation ( avoid )

RED - Dangerous Background Radiation ( RUN! )

As an example, if you placed the device above some mushrooms and the device gave a green readout, you would know the mushrooms were safe for consumption. If, however, the readout was yellow, you would be well-advised not to purchase them. And, in the event you got a red readout, you would not even want to touch them!

The SOEKS EcoTester weighs only 66 g (without batteries) making it ideal to keep in your pocket or handbag when shopping for food.

FAQ

Q. Can I use the SOEKS EcoTester to measure nitrate content in water?

A. No. The device is programmed to measure nitrate content in fresh fruits and vegetables only.

Q. Is it possible to measure nitrate content in livestock and processed meats?

A. This is only possible under strict laboratory conditions. The SOEKS EcoTester is only intended to detect nitrate content in fresh products which have not been heat-treated or undergone salting, pickling, canning, or any other form of preservation.

Q. Is it possible to measure nitrate content in oranges and other citrus fruits?

A. The high content of acids (citric, ascorbic, folic, etc.) in citrus fruits prevents nitrate accumulation in the fruit's flesh. High orange consumption in your diet is not harmful to your health unless you suffer from food allergies but nitrates will not be an issue due to the fruit's natural acids.

Q. Can I insert the probe before switching the device on?

A. No. The device needs to initialize first so, switch it on, select the food item from the list, and then press the OK button. The screen will read "Analysis preparation in progress". You may now insert the probe and press OK again.

Q. Can I test several products at the same time?

A. Yes. However, you must clean the probe thoroughly, without using any cleaning fluid other than water, prior to testing another item. Also, make sure not to touch the probe with your fingers as the body contains natural oils and acids which can interfere with the results.

Q. If measuring film-wrapped products for radioactive contamination, do I need to remove the plastic film first?

A. No. Just place the device on the film and take your measurement. Plastic film cannot hide radioactivity.
